A great accent chair for your hallway, bedroom or living room, this classic chair, called 'Savonarola', is named after the Italian Renaissance friar Girolamo Savonarola, who made it famous.
The ingenuous folding chair has a long history, already used by the Romans in battle where furniture had to be light and easy to transport. The hand-carved lion's head armrests symbolize the high status of the person allowed to sit on it.
Found in Florence.
Condition: Some lacquer damage to the bottom part of the legs is visible (see detailed photographs). Armrests and back rest are in good condition.
