These telephone signs were visible wherever there was a public telephone, before many people had a telephone in their homes. In villages it was common for the public phone to be behind the bar, allowing everyone else to hear the conversation too! This particular design, with its convex shape, is from the 1950-60s. It has a warm yellow background with a black telephone graphic in the middle and circles around the outside. Nowadays, they make wonderfully unique decorative pieces.
Found in Arezzo, Tuscany.
Condition: Good. Overall good vintage condition with a few dents where the enamel has come off (most likely caused by it being used for target practice by local children!). Some rust marks along the outside rim can be seen but they don't impact the solid structure of the piece.
